6th Grade Curriculum
The most unique thing about 6th grade at Heritage Christian Academy is that the class has been designed to accommodate the transition from Elementary school to Junior High seamlessly. Sixth graders are treated as 1/2-Elementary students and 1/2-Junior Highers; they get the best of both worlds. For the most part, it is a regular contained 6th grade class with the exception that they go to Junior High teacher for math. At second semester, they choose a Junior High elective to attend. They have parties and field trips within the 6th grade, but are encouraged to participate in Junior High parties, field trips and athletics. The bond that is developed between 6th graders and Junior High students is very special as a result of the crossover. This process seems to take away most of the anxiety 7th graders experience when school begins in the fall, because they gradually slip into the role of a Junior High student, as a 6th grader.
