Extended Care

Heritage Christian Academy offers high quality before and after school care, for children ages 36 months to 12-years-old. We are a licensed program and operate according to Washington State’s Department of Early Learning.

Spring Break Registration

While reservations are not needed for school days, we do require reservations when school is not in session. Extended Care will be open during spring break: Monday, April 8-Friday, April 12.

Hours of Operation

7:00am - 8:15am and 11:00am - 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.  
Exceptions and Holiday Closures noted below.

Rate

$12.00/hour, billed in 30-minute increments. Charges will be added to your FACTS account.

Late Pick-up Fee

Parents picking up their children after 6:00pm will be charged a late fee of $1.00 per minute, per child.

All students not picked up within 15 minutes of school dismissal will automatically be taken to extended care. For billing purposes, time will begin at the official end time of the academic day (11:00 for half day preschool, 2:45 for all other students).

Holiday closures and exceptions to hours

Extended care is closed on the following Holidays:
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran’s Day (observed)
  • Thanksgiving Day, including the day after
  • Christmas Day, including the day before and day after
  • New Year's Eve (December 31)
  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • President’s Day
  • Good Friday
    Open 7:00am-8:15 am only
    No after school care
  • Memorial Day
  • Summer Camp setup - closed the week after the last day of school (Summer Camp setup week)
  • 4th of July - entire week unless otherwise specified
  • Summer Camp closed at the end of August for Teacher-In-Service (check for specific dates)

On all other scheduled, non-school weekdays, Extended Care is open. For staffing and scheduling purposes, registration must be made in advance for these dates. For pricing and deadline information, please contact our Extended Care Team at ExtendedCare@HCABothell.org.

Policies and Procedures

  • Registration and Enrollment - Students must be registered and enrolled with HCA in order to attend Extended Care. Please notify us immediately of any changes of phone numbers or emergency contacts. A student must be a minimum of 30 months old and potty trained.
  • Student Release - All children must be signed out daily by the parent or other authorized person. If someone not listed on your registration form needs to pick up your child, we must have written permission from you.
  • Activities - Activities include: arts and crafts. cooking projects, music & movement, guided activities that coincide with the preschool curriculum, games and outdoor exploration. 30-40 minutes of quiet homework time is provided for Elementary Students.
  • Outer garments - Washington state law requires us to take children outside a minimum of 2 times a day, regardless of weather. Please always send your child with appropriate clothing.
  • Lunch - All children who will be attending during lunch time must bring their own nut-free lunch. 
  • Snacks- Afternoon snacks are provided by the school at 2:00 (preschool students) and 4:00 (preschool and elementary students).
  • Late pickup - Any child not picked up at dismissal will be checked in to Extended Care. Any child not picked up by 6:00pm from Extended Care will incur a late fee of $1.00 per minute until picked up by a parent or other authorized person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pre-register my child?
For staffing and scheduling purposes on non-typical school days, please email extendedcare@hcabothell.org at least 24 business hours in advance to secure a spot for your child.  Registration is not required for Extended Care on typical school days.
 
What is a non-typical school day?
Non-typical school days are school breaks, conference days, and half days. See the "Hours + Fees" tab for a list of scheduled Extended Care holiday closures.  
 
Can I drop my child off even if it's not their day?
3-day Preschool students are welcome in Extended Care on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 11:00 (there is no care between 8:30 and 11:00). For any non-typical school days, we require registration at least 24 business hours in advance.
 
Where do I pick-up/drop-off for Extended Care?
Pick-up/drop-off is at the blue double doors by the preschool playground in the upper parking lot. Ring the doorbell on the right-hand side for Extended Care.
 
What should I pack for my child on a non-typical school day?
Your child will need a morning snack and lunch (two afternoon snacks are provided).
Please pack appropriate outdoor gear for your child.
Please pack a change of clothes in case of accidents or weather.
For preschool, please pack naptime gear (ex: 1 small blanket, 1 small pillow, 1 stuffy).
